11/08/2020 , by razekt@who.int

PPE and sterilization materials were provided to families in Qazvin to assist with COVID-19 mitigation.

In Qazvin, it was found there was a lack of available masks and disinfectants, in addition to a lack of financial resources to buy masks/disinfectants, thus enabling the spread of COVID-19 in the suburbs and among families in need.

The initiative promoted a collaboration with the House of People's Participation in Health to win the support of donors. The scope of this initiative covered a wide array of services, such as increasing the work shift of disinfectant companies, changing the use of companies such as t-shirt production in cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration to produce masks, launching the production line of Shahid Rajaie Power Plant in Qazvin to produce bleach and disinfectants, the distribution of health packages including masks and disinfectants to needy families and marginalized areas, and the provision of home disinfection for people with coronavirus disease who did not have the financial means to disinfect their homes.

The initiative targets people in need, and it was primarily funded by donors.

The initiative aimed to increase the production of masks and disinfectants and provide people in need with access to masks and disinfectants.

In terms of post-pandemic prospects, joint meetings with representatives of organizations to continue actions after the pandemic will be held, and both short-term and long-term plans with related groups will be made to institutionalize health programs.

The following results were observed upon the initiative's completion:

  • The work shifts of the companies involved were increased.
  • Successfully changed the production line of two companies to produce masks and disinfectants.
  • Distribution of 60,000 masks and disinfectants.
