Medina's 'Cancer Patient Care' Initiative - Saudi Arabia

Medina's 'Cancer Patient Care' initiative prioritizes the wellbeing of cancer patients during the quarantine.


Cancer patients suffer from compromised immune systems, therefore, the COVID-19 pandemic poses a high risk to them. This initiative addresses this issue and tries to help them overcome their challenges by providing the patient and their family with basic necessities as well as medical kits in order to protect them from infections and maintain their safety.

The initiative aimed to provide support to cancer patients during by:

  • Supplying families with their needs and supporting them in lowering the cost of living.
  • Preventing cancer patients and their families from becoming infected by encouraging them to stay home.
  • Provide the community with the opportunity to participate in this initiative by delivering necessities to the homes of cancer patients.

 

The initiative successfully reduced living costs for patients and their families, especially those with low incomes, and allowed them to take advantage of the resultant savings. Supplied were delivered to the patients’ homes to enable them to stay at home, which helped reduce the spread of the virus, especially since they are considered the group most vulnerable to infection because of their low immunity. Furthermore, the initiative allowed for community participation by encouraging members of the community to help patients and provide them with their basic needs.
