Belgharn spearheads efforts to combat COVID-19 by distributing nutritional meals and PPE, and launching educational campaigns.

This was a community initiative that demonstrates community awareness and the community’s eagerness to volunteer, thus showcasing a sense of responsibility and active participation.

Healthy nutritional meals, such as fruits, special types of cakes, etc. were distributed at a rate of 3 meals per day for those in quarantine, and about 1,200 people benefited from them. Masks and sterilizers were distributed to members of society and municipal workers, benefiting more than 3000 people. Publications and educational posters in the province of Belqharn benefited more than 80,000 people. It was observed that unity allows for communities to overcome any obstacle.

The initiative aimed to reduce the effect of the pandemic on public health, as well as the psychological and economic effects. It also aimed to encourage active participation and cooperation with the state. The initiative was evaluated from a psychological, physical, and economic point of view; the lower the number of patients, the healthier the public would be.

Economically, it reduced government spending on patients and those in quarantine. It also had a positive impact on reducing overcrowding and encouraging community members to stay home.

Regarding post-pandemic prospects, all measures and initiatives have contributed to limiting the spread of the virus and mitigated the effects of the pandemic on the economy and public health.

The initiative achieved integration between social, governmental, and private sectors, thereby inspiring the concept of volunteering and community participation as well as reducing the effects of the pandemic.
