11/03/2020 , by razekt@who.int

This initiative encouraged Al Ghat's community members to engage with online resources during the quarantine.

The initiative was launched to help educate the local community about COVID-19 with content provided through online courses, thus enabling the community to prevent the spread of the disease. The themes addressed by this initiative concern older populations, migrant/refugee populations, physical activity, schools and education, the workplace and food security. Additionally, the initiative was funded through the local community center.

The initiative also serves to enhance the overall psychological state of community members while they are restricted to their homes, considering that they are encouraged to occupy their time by using the online educational tools provided. It aims to reduce the impact of staying at home through encouraging effective time management and reinforcing a sense of individual responsibility to support the state’s efforts in combatting COVID-19.

The initiative resulted in cost reductions through the provision of online courses, and in terms of post-pandemic prospects, it bolstered the sense of community in the region by highlighting the merits of community participation.

Ultimately, the 'Online Training' initiative achieved integration among all sectors of society and the country by cultivating social awareness, community participation and a sense of responsibility.
