11/03/2020 , by razekt@who.int

This initiative was launched in an inclusive effort to translate COVID-19 informational materials in as many languages as possible, for the benefit of residents who speak other languages.

In Al Diriyah, most COVID-19 informational materials are provided in Arabic and English, which consequently excluded residents who spoke other languages.

Therefore, this initiative was launched with the intention of providing accurate information pertinent to COVID-19 in multiple languages, as well as distributing face masks and sanitizers. Additionally, the initiative was funded through the budget designated for the region’s Healthy Cities program. The initiative targets residents of the Al Diriyah region.

The initiative aimed to spread awareness about COVID-19 in as many languages as possible, due to the presence of residents from multiple nationalities.

The impact of the initiative on public health is seen through the successful provision of COVID-19 related informational materials in multiple languages, thereby educating residents about ways to limit the spread of the infection.

Cost reductions were achieved through the mobile application that was launched in parallel with the initiative. Post-pandemic prospects revolve around the reduction in the average number of COVID-19 cases, and the initiative successfully limited the spread of COVID-19 in the Al Diriyah region.
