  1. CDMARC Bibliographic Library of Congress. Contains the complete bibliographic, 4.8 million record cataloguing file of the Library of Congress, on books, serials, maps, music and audio-visual materials published world-wide since 1968. Covers publications in English, since 1968; in French, since 1973; in German, Portuguese, and Spanish since 1975; in other Roman alphabet languages, since 1976-1977; in South Asian and Cyrillic alphabet languages (in romanised form) since 1980. Provides basic bibliographic data from MAchine Readable Cataloguing records. Records can be displayed in a USMARC Format, a labelled format, or a thesaurus format that resembles a printed card.
  2. The CD-ROM Directory has been published annually in print form since 1986. This disc, a new edition of which appears every six months (June and December), provides comprehensive details on all CD-ROM and multimedia titles commercially available; companies involved in all aspects of the industry; hardware and software; relevant conferences, exhibitions, books and journals. International in coverage this disc is a complete reference work of the CD-ROM and multimedia industry.
  3. Computer related data bases. Microsoft TechNet, MS developers net, Computer Select, PC Magazine, Byte, NT Resource Kit.
  4. EMBASE: Drug and Pharmaceutical. This database contains over 1,300,000 abstracts and citations from the last 10 years and covers comprehensively the drugs and pharmacology literature including effects and use of all drugs and potential drugs, clinical and experimental aspects of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Also extensively covered are the side effects of and adverse reactions to drugs. In addition relevant abstracts from other clinical and basic disciplines are also included. Approximately 3,500 biomedical journals from 110 countries are screened for relevant information plus every record from the top drugs and pharmacology.
  5. ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center), a bibliographic database sponsored by the US Department of Education, is an important source for education related research information, documents and journal articles. Information in the ERIC database corresponds to two printed abstract and index journals, Resources in Education (RIE), and Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE). Features access to the Thesaurus of ERIC Descriptors.
  6. ExtraMED contains the contents of over 220 biomedical journals from all over the world, mainly from developing countries. It was established on the initiative of the World Health Organisation. Users will be able to use indexing tools Provided on the disk to locate relevant articles and can then print out those of particular interest. Apart from its use by researchers in medical libraries, ExtraMED should also be of interest to hospitals and physicians in both developed and developing countries. Other target audiences would include non-governmental and international development organisations, and multi-and bi-lateral donor and charitable organisations. Contains the full text of the journals, as page images, all indexed.
  7. Food and Human Nutrition focuses on subjects from an international perspective, which includes over 135 participating countries covered in over a quarter million records. Literature includes unique material such as unpublished scientific and technical reports, theses, conference papers, government publications and more. With its international scope, many records contain key words in English, French and Spanish.
  8. Global Books in Print Plus. This title contains bibliographical information from six English language book databases - R.R. Bowker's 'Books in Print', J. Whitaker and Sons' 'Bookbank', K.G. Saur's International Books in Print', D.W. Thorpe's 'Australian Books in Print', D.W. Thorpe's 'New Zealand Books in Print' and 'The Canadian Telebook Agency'. It contains over a million titles from the US, the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Asia and the Oceanic states. The disc features integrated listings of all editions of a title, international verification of all bibliographic details, enhanced reviews of mass-market titles, audience codes and other, elusive categories and general and detailed subject indexing using both IC and BISAC's new bookseller headings.
  9. LILACS / CD-ROM Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature. The only complete and updated database covering health related literature published in the Latin American and the Caribbean regions. Bibliographic citations and summaries from journals, books, technical reports, theses and other types of literature are systematically collected and processed by the Latin American and the Caribbean Health Sciences Information Network under BIREME's co-ordination.
  10. MEDLINE is a major source of bibliographic biomedical literature. The MEDLINE database encompasses information from three printed indexes (Index Medicus, Index to Dental Literature and the International Nursing Index) as well as additional information not published in the Index Medicus. Features Search and Display new fields - country of publication, gene symbols, molecular sequences, original titles, personal names as subjects and comments; improved source searches - search conference proceedings, books, search by journal name and search by page.
  11. Oxford English Dictionary (Second Edition) on Compact Disc. The contains the Second Edition of the Oxford English Dictionary, published in print form in 1989, with some modifications. Instant search for every occurrence of one or more specific words, phrases or abbreviations appearing anywhere in the database. High-speed searching on the entire Dictionary text, definitions, etymology and quotations is also offered.
  12. POPLINE is a bibliographic database containing more than 150,000 citations on population, family planning and related health care, law, and policy issues. The database reaches as far back as 1827 and includes citations to and abstracts of journal articles, monographs, technical reports and unpublished works. POPLINE is maintained by the Population Information Program at the Johns Hopkins University, in collaboration with the Center for Population and Family Health at Columbia University, Population Index at Princeton University, and the Carolina Population Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The CD-ROM subscription includes a tutorial. The project is funded by the US Agency for International Development.
  13. Ulrich's International Periodicals Directory. The Directory features - nearly 120,000 regularly and regularly issued serials; over 67,000 revisions and more than 6,100 cessations; addresses for nearly 65,000 publishers from 200 countries; nearly 2500 title hanges in the last year; nearly 4,500 refereed serials notations; ISSN index; a listing of over 510 serials available on CD-ROM and 137 CD-ROM producers; brief editorial descriptions for nearly 40,500 leading serials; notations for new serials, plus expanded notations for ceased titles for the last three years; Library of Congress classification numbers in addition to the Dewey classifications for over 30,000 publications.
